Bitches ain’t shit
I don’t understand why people are reacting so negatively to people disagreeing with these sorts of comments.
Empirically, women are five times as likely to be victims of intimate partner violence like simple assault, sexual assault, and aggravated assault than men are.
Murder, specifically, is nearly as stark:
In 2007 intimate partners committed 14% of all homicides in the U.S. The total estimated number of intimate partner homicide victims in 2007 was 2,340, including 1,640 females and 700 males.
I had trouble finding the detailed data for the FBI’s more recent Uniform Crime Report, but this is a pattern that holds true year after year.
‘Bitches ain’t shit’ ain’t just a meme, a joke, or commiseration: It’s a widespread idea that gets women abused and killed in the thousands each year.

I’m pretty sure the people who post this meme aren’t the ones beating women or sexually abusing women.Like I joked about “bitches ain’t shit but hoes and tricks” when my friend got cheated on, but like.
Let’s calm down there mate. Nobody is denying how much women get sexually abused.
I certainly am not sure that ‘Ha ha, I’m only PRETENDING to be misogynistic’ is a reliable sign someone isn’t or that’s even important.
I’m more talking about this general community, and some people are definitely using the actions of one woman to rail against gold diggers or saying ‘Fry this cunt,’ and many more are agreeing with that sentiment.
When you generalize negative actions from one person to apply it in a homogenous way to all others whether you say you’re joking is irrelevant, especially if other people don’t take it that way. Clearly here, in this context, people aren’t.
The voting patterns, here and elsewhere, would make that sort of No True Scotsman claim somewhat difficult to maintain. Again, “fry the cunt”, “succubus”, “men need to just reproduce by cloning”, “bitches ain’t shit but hos and tricks”.
There’s a reason Reddit has a problem with communities like redpill, incel, and the like, and it’s not because the userbase’s sense of humor or ability to appreciate irony is so incredibly refined.
I understand that, but this is not a sub where DINDU NUFFIN or The God Emperor! memes would gain much traction. And that’s because the underlying ‘jokes’ of those are recognized as distasteful.
If Kobe Bryant was accused of sexually assaulting someone in his hotel room, the meme ‘Around the blacks, never relax’ would not be taken as funny in this context even if the person who made it was ostensibly not racist and just intending to be ironic.
If, in that situation, one person doing one bad thing in the news led to an influx of jokingly Coon Town-style posts getting upvoted, and ‘Hey, that’s racist’ getting downvoted or told to calm down, it would be obvious there was a problem here, too, not just a shared website.
I get what you’re saying. But people who subscribe to KotakuInAction like the NBA, too.
Yes, and men lay into their girlfriends and wives and no one ever reports it, especially if they just had a baby. Or if they can’t cover rent on their own and don’t want to be homeless. Or if they’ve been conditioned by years of abuse already.
These ‘polluted stats’ may be even more skewed than reported.
You’re starting from an assumption that makes you want to believe the world is one way. But it’s the other way.
A typical woman can’t prevent a typical man from leaving the house or hold him down or strangle him. Throwing a plate at someone’s head is a violent act, but the accuracy rate is much worse than slamming someone into a wall or punching them an arm’s length away.
That’s the reason why people ‘laugh off’ a woman slapping her husband. It’s sometimes funny when a child hits an adult, too, but only because the child does not have the physical capacity under normal circumstances to put the adult in serious danger.
Intimate partner violence is always bad, but there’s no equivalence to be found here and only ever attempted to be made to avoid addressing what’s going on
Sure, and I think I appreciate where you’re coming from with what you’re saying about the tone.
But like the analogy I used above, DINDU NUFFIN would not be an appropriate ironic joke to do regarding a black NBA player’s arrest, even for something heinous, and if you haven’t seen some of the other comments here, they can be horrendous, celebrated or horrendous and celebrated versus other comments that were a net negative 40 or below for saying, ‘Whoa, that’s messed up.’
It starts with stuff that’s ironic or exaggerated or just a reference, but we wouldn’t let Coon Town leak in her and we should let redpill leak either.
